Developing the whole person
For 15 years the King’s Foundation has effectively used sport to benefit children and young people throughout the UK and Europe and more recently in Africa. Sports Programmes – The benefits.
As a Christian organisation and in addition to delivering high quality sports programmes, King’s invests in the emotional and spiritual development of young people via personal development programmes. Our particular strength is helping leaders and workers; who work with children and young people in communities, churches and organisations; to identify and nurture their skills and personal attributes so that in turn they use them to have a positive impact on the lives of others.
Investing our time and resources into an individual’s growth and skills development is highly rewarding and we see many young people adopt values and life-skills such as; perseverance, the benefits of practice, managing success and failure, learning to win and lose and self control and we encourage them to discover their role within their community, this often leads to active participation within it.
How we work
We believe that every child and every young person is created as unique, valuable and vital; they have different abilities, interests, values and goals. We aim to relate to people in a way they are comfortable with and we work with local people in a mutually respectful and beneficial way, embracing their local knowledge and circumstances.
Our programmes are relationship centered – we believe that positive relationships are at the heart of all good communities – and we use sport, innovative games, activities and learning processes to demonstrate this.
Transformed lives
Our personal development programmes help leaders understand how they can set and achieve goals that otherwise they may not have thought possible, both for themselves and for the children in their care and as a result we see lives that are transformed. As one of our project partners in Uganda said, “we don’t look at people the way they are, but the way they should be”.
